چکیده
Howard, age eight years and six months, was brought to the Psychological Clinic of the University of Pennsylvania on October 10, 1929, by his mother because of inattentiveness in school and failure to make promotion. He was referred by the Principal of a suburban school in the environs of Philadelphia. He was examined in Dr. Witmer's Clinic. The diagnosis is normal mentality. The first case of onychomycosis in a koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) due to atypical isolates of Microsporum gypseum, a diagnostic challenge
Background and Purpose: Superficial mycotic infections have been only poorly described in koalas and there are no reliable mycologically confirmed data regarding clinical isolation of dermatophytes in this animal. We report an 11-yearold female koala, kept in a zoo in Tokyo, Japan, and presenting with hyperkeratotic lesions and scaly plaques on forepaw claws and pads reminis...
متن کاملDiagnostic Fine Needle Aspiration in a Case of Riedel’s Thyroiditis
In Riedel’s thyroiditis, a rare chronic inflammatory disease of thyroid gland, fine needle aspiration is usually non-diagnostic because most often only follicular cells are obtained and not the fibrous material characteristic of this type of thyroiditis. Therefore the diagnosis is often only established by histopathologic study of the surgically obtained biopsy. The illustrated case is a 46-yea...
متن کاملIdentification of diagnostic biomarkers by bioinformatics analysis in the inflamed and non-inflamed intestinal mucosa in Crohn\'s disease patients
Background: Crohn's disease (CD) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which despite the unknown details is generally related to genetic, immune system, and environmental factors. In this study, we identify transcriptional signatures in patients with CD and then explain the potential molecular mechanisms in inflamed and non-inflamed intestinal mucosa in these patients. Materials and Me...
متن کاملDressing conformability and silver- containing wound dressings
Background: All wounds have unique and irregular topographies, including cavities where fluids and bacteria may collect and increase the risk of wound infection. Aims: To qualitatively and quantitatively investigate the relationship between the physical structure of antiseptic wound dressings and their ability to manage bioburden in models that simulate clinical conditions. Methods: In vitro mo...
متن کاملAn investigation into the conformability of wound dressings
Aims: Flexibility and conformability are key performance characteristics in dressing design and construction, which can have an impact on product suitability in the clinical environment. This study evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively the conformability and comfort of a variety of wound dressings (Biatain® Soft/Ag/Non-adhesive (Coloplast), Allevyn® Gentle (Smith and Nephew), Mepilex®...
